15mm Medieval Spanish Javelinmen

I actually finished these figures a few weeks ago but have not had a chance to take any pictures until earlier this week. Sixteen elements of auxiliary infantry and four of light, comprising 56 figures in total:

As with the rest of the army, the figures are from Khurasan with four poses in each pack:

These can be upgraded to Superior when fielding an Aragonese Spanish army, so can hold their own against many other troop types:

These are the last main unit in the army, although I still have a few Swiss mercenaries and some baggage elements to go to fully round things out. Hopefully I will have a few pictures of those up shortly after the weekend.

I noticed blogger misbehaved again during the week, dropping around half the links to the blogs I like to access. The links were actually still there, but without any feed coming through. A rather unedifying hour spent deleting and reconstituting those affected sorted things out, but I'm still a bit mystified as to what happened. I suppose Blogger is free, but I'd happily pay a small monthly subscription for them not to mess around with such things for no obvious improvement.

  1. More nice work on the Medieval Spaniards, Lawrence. Nice figures with a good range of poses.

    1. Thanks Keith. They became a little repetitive after doing a couple of dozen or so, but look OK en masse.

  2. Excellent work, Lawrence! Your colorful shield designs really pop.

As for the Blogger SNAFU, I think thre was a problem with picking up the RSS feeds. All seems to be back in order now.

  3. Cheers, although I hope not overly colourful Jonathan. I am always conscious of the 'jelly bean' effect. I waited a few days for the Google situation to resolve itself but ended up deleting and re-linking the affected feeds a few times, which worked. Strange that only around half were affected.

  4. Another fine bunch Lawrence. Google isn’t alone in this type of tinkering. Microsoft released an ‘upgrade’ to Edge last week that rendered a whole range of links and shortcuts redundant. If had a huge impact on our organisation and took the better part of three days to resolve.

    1. Thanks Mark. I remember Microsoft completely changed their email protocols earlier this year that prevented emails from our and several hundred other software products around the world also without any warning. It took them a week to acknowledge and figure out what they had done, by which time we had worked it out anyway and brought out an update. Very frustrating.

  5. Troops look real nice all ranked up like that. Well done. 😀

My blog roll so far has been unaffected. I must be lucky. Makes up for my lack luster love life….

    1. Cheers Stew. Might have just been me with the broken links then, but at least it has given me something to complain about.

    1. Cheers Richard. A little more colourful than some of my other armies, but they are Spanish.

    1. Thanks Iain. Yes, skirting the line a bit, but hopefully staying on the right side.

  8. Fine looking Javelinmen, Lawrence. It's interesting that we don't tend to think of them as being a common medieval troop type. Perhaps mostly in Iberia?

    1. Just saw this comment sorry Peter. Exactly what I thought, in that I acquaint javelinmen as more of an ancient period troop type, but then the Spanish were quite adept at that in ancient times so must have carried it through.

    2. No worries, Lawrence. It was a comment well after the posting date. It seems the more I "cut back", the busier I am!
