French 20th Dragoons

The second of four dragoon units, I had to include one with yellow facings:

These are the Perry "at rest" dragoons, and I particularly like the way they appear to just be standing about waiting for the order to charge. I also purchased the bearskin figures to form an elite company for the next three units:

Even though they may be over-represented in a twelve-figure unit, I can never resist a bearskin cap:

The command stand:

And a couple of close-ups of the troopers:

Two down, with two to go:

That's the 20e Dragoons completed then. Next up the 2e dragoons.

    1. Thanks Phil. A few coats of Vallejo on top of a GW brown did the job.

  2. Impressive! Lawrence, you are flying through these French cavalry. I like the shouldered sword pose since it is less prone to sword breakage. The yellow really pops.

    1. Thanks Pancerni. I see you have had to tackle a bit of yellow yourself with the lovely Swedes you're working through.

    1. Cheers Iain. Back to red for the next lot, which I always find easier to do.

  5. Another nice looking unit and I agree with other commentators, the yellow really gives an impressive look (I originally typed "make them pop" but Mr Freitag already used that phrase above!)

  6. I love these dragoons with their lemon yellow facings, Lawrence. The reversed colors of the trumpeters looks especially grand in the dragoons.

Of course, I'm 100% on board with the glorious Bearskins of the compagnie d' elite! Who cares about over representation? It's not like 10% of a regiment were trumpeters, or standard bearers etc!

Back to red for the 2e? I hold out hope for some Aurore and/or Rose pink in the future. I think both of those colors also look striking with Dragoon green. :-)

    1. Cheers Peter. Yes, I wish I had put the elite company in all of the units now, but there are only a handful without. Definitely a rose pink unit in the 15th ahead of me, and I purchased a lighter pink colour triad for the job.

  7. Yet another gorgeous unit Lawrence. I really like the élite company dragoons (I have a 'thing' for cavalry in bearskins!).

    1. Cheers Tony, although I am finding it difficult to get downstairs too early in the morning with the current winter cold snap we are experiencing.
