The figures are Wargame Foundry and have been in the pile for twelve years with some of the other previously completed regiments, so it was nice to finally give them some attention:
The lance pennons and flag are again from GMB:
I have to admit to a sense of satisfaction having finished this lot, and found painting them very enjoyable mainly due to all the variety present in French cavalry regiments:
I have prepared some French artillery, but before I move on to them I want to squeeze in a 15mm medieval army or two, starting with some Spanish which I am hoping should only take me a couple of months to complete. Well, that's the plan at least, so I'll see how it turns out come the end of July.
Another lovely addition to the French collection Lawrence....must be time some of them found their way onto a gaming table, isn't it?? 15mm WotR next I believe....what figures have you amassed for that project ?
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith. I need to complete the French artillery and then hopefully they will see some game time. My Napoleonic group is primarily 15mm but 25/28mm will always be my first love for this period, so it is up to me to supply the figures. I have a few medieval armies in the pile, including HYW English and French, Teutonic, medieval Spanish, German and Italian. The plan at this stage is to start with the Spanish and then try to get the Teutonics and Germans done, then back to the French artillery.
DeleteSuper job, Lawrence! Now, how about taking a little time for a parade of all 24 regiments?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan. Yes, good idea. I was thinking I should pull them all out for a roll call, as it is unlikely they will all be together in a single game.
DeleteThese are absolutely gorgeous Lawrence. I think that these might be my favourite so far.
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard. I think they are my favourite so far as well, along with the previously completed Carabiniers.
DeleteWonderful job on great castings, the Poles were my first and still my favorite unit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pancerni. I used to have the old Airfix 54mm kit as a ten year-old so it was nice to get the chance to do them again.
DeleteWow, beautiful Polish lancers, well done Lawrence!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, it certainly is a smart-looking uniform.
DeleteAwesome looking lancers! It would be great to see all the cavalry together for a parade, then what a month to knock out a medieval army?!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Cheers Iain. A month would be nice, but I'm aiming for the end of July. They are only 15mm, but I suspect all the work on the knights will slow me down a bit.
DeleteGreat job on this famous regiment! I have the exact same figures, only painted 20+ years ago, and not nearly as well! :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers Peter. I must say I have found painting Wargames Foundry figures to be a pleasure. Just the right amount of detail and very clean casts, so no little surprises with bits you have missed cleaning up.
DeleteCongratulations on finishing a sub-project. Great looking figures as usual.
ReplyDeleteCheers Tony. It is a nice feeling of satisfaction, I have to say.
DeleteThat is a cracking unit Lawrence. I like the squadrons with matching horse colours, I have done that with some of my units too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. I wish I had done a few more like that as it is quite effective, even though it no doubt didn't last that long on campaign.
DeleteSupurb figures Lawrence, My Polish/Dutch lancers are Minifigs from the 1970's.
