French 9th Chasseurs

The last of the line chasseurs, I chose 9eme regiment as I wanted an excuse to open my Foundry pink triad again:

The figures are again Perry, this time chasseurs in a standing pose, with the flag from GMB:

I was happy with the way these turned out and especially pleased with the pink contrast against the green:

I included three elite company figures again, this time in shakoes. I like the way the figures with the covered shako also lends a bit of variety:

That's seventeen regiments now completed with seven more to go:

I'm just finalising the Guard chasseurs at the moment, and will hopefully have a post up for them within the next few days.

  1. Wow.....SEVENTEEN regiments....I may not have seventeen regiments across all my collections combined Lawrence! This is an outstanding effort...I guess all the figures were bought before the advent of the Perry plastic options? I have thought that to balance out my Napoleonic collections, I really should consider additional French, British and Austrian cavalry.....

    1. Some were purchased after Perry released their plastic cavalry Keith, and my French are a mixture of Foundry and Perry. They sit well together, no doubt because the Perry twins sculpted most of the Foundry range. I can't ever see myself ever putting twenty-four regiments of French cavalry on a table at any one time, especially as the largest table we game on is around twelve feet by five, so the reason I've done so many is to give ourselves options for different scenarios. That, and the fact I'm slightly obsessive.

    1. Cheers Ray. The pink does add that extra element of class.

  3. Striking work, Lawrence. The pink and yellow looks so good against the dark green. The chasseur uniform is simple yet elegant. How will you fit 24 regiments of French horse onto the gaming table??? It would be an impressive sight to see, though.

    1. Thanks Jonathan. I don't think I'll ever see them all on the table together, but they do give me enough options for most scenarios. Plus my storage boxes fit eight regiments each, so 24 has by accident worked out to be a perfect number.

  4. Gorgeous, clean painting I really like the pink and am now tempted to do this regiment just because of the facing colour seeing these! Twenty four regiments does seem a lot, easily done ,although megalomania is a big feature of the hobby,I include myself in the number to be honest!

    1. Thanks Iain. The pink is my favourite part and almost a reward after labouring through trying to highlight dark green on top of even darker green.

  5. They are lovely, Lawrence. It is a pity they are in the later uniform sans the reversed colors for the trumpeters; pink faced dark green is quite striking. I have 4 regiments of Chasseurs ion my collection (plus one Italian regiment faced purple!); this unit is making me think I need another regiment just so that they can have the pink facings! :-)

    1. Thanks Peter. The Perry chasseurs all seem to be of the later period, and I too love a reversed-coloured trumpeter, and any excuse to break out the pink triad for the facings.
